Even if you’re female – in fact, especially if you’re female! Take “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Katherine Heigl as a case in point. While so many others looked a bit loud in all those bright gowns at the People’s Choice Awards – and even Christina Applegate’s black and silver beaded gown looked way overdone and old fashioned in comparison to Katherine’s Dolce and Gabbana tux and cream camisole, and her cool Grecian up do.

Is it a coincidence that Gucci and Neiman Marcus are holding a spring 09 trunk show this Friday from 10AM to 4AM on the second designer floor? After all, it’s Golden Globe week, and celebrities, stylists and shoppers in general are all thinking: SPRING CLOTHES! And since they are all running around Beverly Hills to gifting suites and looking at gowns and jewelry, it’s easy to pop in. And they can get a closer look at the blue moo-moo one shoulder caftan-style dress Kate Hudson wore to the People’s Choice Awards last night – but if it didn’t look good on HER, chances are, they will want to skip ordering it. On the other hand, it might make a decent nightgown.

Who is this girl? A third rate country star? Cameron Diaz at the Oscars a few years ago? A Russian vacationing in St. Tropez? We just can’t BELIEVE Kate Hudson chose to wear this Gucci spring caftan to the People’s Choice Awards – and with deep navy blue eye-shadow, on top of it. It even made HER look fat and bloated – and she’s got a great bod! Why would she hide it? In the past, we’ve liked her hippie chic looks – but this is going WAY too far. Gucci had a lot more fitted dresses in the spring collection that would have been MUCH more flattering. – Merle Ginsberg
