NOT THIS BENNIFER!!!THIS BENNIFER!!!

                      NOT THIS BENNIFER…                                         THIS ONE!!!

While she made an appearance with husband Marc Anthony at the spring Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan last week, Jennifer Lopez was spotted with one of the famous “Bens” in her life – but not ex-fiance Ben Affleck. The “Ben” we’re referring to is Benny Medina, Jennifer’s famous manager, whom she fired in 2003 in her Ben Affleck days, because Affleck wanted her to “glam it down.” Jennifer Lopez, GLAM IT DOWN? Clearly, that was not the best tactic for La Lopez. Glamour is in her veins, her toes, the tips of her hair – it simply oozes out of her.

It seems Mr. Medina – who has managed and helped create the careers of everyone from Will Smith from his “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” days, to P. Diddy in his early days, to Tyra Banks’s tv career, and more recently, Usher, Mariah Carey, Nicole Richie – is back guiding Jennifer’s career, after a five year absence. Since the two of them made beautiful music together – and movies – it seems like a good moment in time for the super duo to re-team. We have to wonder: what took them so long?

Benny Medina signed Jennifer Lopez, the former “fly girl” from the tv show “In Living Color” her right after her first feature film, “Selena” in 1997 – and helped her create her first album “On the 6″ – which went on to be a giant smash. She’s had a few very successful movies, like Steven Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight” – and a few successful album and concert tours – but she’s been eclipsed of late by performers like Beyonce, who’s now snapping up a number of major movie roles and beauty ad campaigns. Lopez’s more recent films and albums haven’t made the splash one would have expected.

After her marriage and pregnancy and the birth of her twins, you might have thought Lopez might slow down. Well, think again.

Medina and Lopez parted ways in 2003, about six months before she parted ways with Ben Affleck – it seems Affleck seemed to think his future wife did not need a manager. Last week, Lopez was spotted in Greece (where she performed a concert, and did a big photo shoot with hairstylist Ken Paves), St. Tropez, and then Milan, all with Benny Medina taking up the charge. No official announcement has been made – but who can deny that BENNIFER is back!!!!! Lopez has two movies in pre-production for next year, “The Governess” and “Love and Other Impossible Pursuits,” and we bet, if Medina is in the picture – and you can see that he is – there will be a very successful pop,/R&B, album crossover on the way. Damn, there’s been a real glamour gulch lately – WE NEED BENNIFER!!!!!!!!!!!

When the polizi dragged British comic Sacha Baran Cohen, aka Borat, off a runway in the middle of a Milan fashion show – Italian fashionistas, instead of angered that he’d curtailed a fashion show, screamed, “Borat! Bellisima!” But the Milanese cops dragged him off and arrested him anyway. In character as “Bruno,” an Austrian fashionista,  the character as the center of his new mockumentary movie for summer 09, Baran Cohen was fairly recognizable: his hair is straight and streaked with blonde, and he was wearing over the top clothes – the only thing that gave him away and is that Baran Cohen, with a camera crew in Milan, had tried to get into the DSquared show, and was turned away.

Somehow, he managed to leap onto the runway during Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz De La Prada’s show in Milan and strutted around before security chased, captured and turned him over to police, reported Italy’s ANSA news agency. A lesson to those who want to break into fashion shows: become famous comics first.

The Cambridge University-educated star was detained at a police station for about half an hour, during which someone fetched his passport to vouch for him. Eventually, he released without charge.

What with fashion all over movies and tv lately – whether it’s reality shows or scripted shows like “Gossip Girls” – Baran Cohen’s movie could be the first real fashion comedy. – MERLE GINSBERG

WHO:  Christopher Bailey

WHO THEY ARE: CB used to work for Gucci, and he’s transformed Burberry Prorsum into the chicest English brand in the world – even though he shows in Milan.

COLOR TRENDS: Ochres, naturals, greys, moss green, taupe, gold lame’, white, mustard, metallic brocade prints.

MAJOR TRENDS: Bailey’s clothes look much like the casual-but-chic way city people already dress: pants shrunk like leggings, soft jackets, sweaters, distressed leathers, cute flapper dresses made casual by pairing them with socks and lace ups, jackets over dresses – all with little cotton bucket hats that look like crushed cloches. It’s that Bloomsbury casual elegance that transcends place and time – and while it does suit a rainy climate, it looks good everywhere. The chunky costume necklaces tossed on the looks are very reminiscent of Marni – but that’s NOT a bad thing. Of course, there were trenchcoats – a black python number with giant pailettes at the hem!!!!!!! A coat worth stalking a python for. The little metallic dresses at the end would even suit those “Gossip Girls.”

RELEVANCE TO HOLLYWOOD: This is the chicest, finest collection to date out of spring 09 – it’s dressy and casual all at the same time. There’s not one piece that would look out of place in L.A. – the legging trousers, the soft jackets, that KILLER trenchcoat (Cate Blanchett MUST own that!), the skinny cardigans, and the adorable dresses. Take the jackets off and the dresses are perfection for any red carpet – and any aerobicized L.A. body.
