While bucketloads of celebs headed for D.C. this weekend for the White House Correspondents Dinner, others headed for Churchill Downs for the traditional Kentucky Derby. Looks like the Derby did a lot of inviting, as LeAnn Rimes, Brooke Shields, Diane Lane, Gabrielle Union – and even Kim Kardashian showed up!! (Although, these days, is there anywhere Kim Kardashian does NOT show up?) As you can see here, the look was all about pretty spring dresses and big hats. Fun to see all these red carpet sophisticates looking like they’re in Victorian England, or at an English spring garden party. It’s really very sweet. Diane Lane’s dress was a black cotton pique with belt from David Meister’s spring 2010 collection.

Who knew? When did so many stars – and so many fashion stars – attend the White House Correspondents Dinner? Maybe when Vanity Fair started giving the after party. Tory Burch was in Prada, Kim Kardashian in vintage Valentino, and the ladies were really going for it in gowns, gowns, gowns. Julianna Margulies, Jessica Simpson, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon (but no SJP), Scarlett Johannson, Mariska Hargitay, even Donatella Versace and Kathryn Bigelow were there! Jay Leno got teased by President Obama, and Jimmy Fallon managed to stay out of Michelle Obama’s (in Prabal Gurung) way. Here’s a peak into the looks they were wearing. Perhaps all the color and pales bodes heavy for the Met Ball in New York Monday night.

Kim Kardashian is the face of Famous Cupcakes, I created a sweet pretty look on her for their advertising campaign. Famous Cupcakes is a brand new company that will be famous for their tasty treats made with wholesome and natural ingredients. After the shoot we all got to take home a box of their cupcakes, and believe me they were yummy! (more…)

Kim Kardashian had more reason than most to be excited about the Superbowl – her man Reggie Bush plays for The Saints. She even had her nails done to cheer on the New Orleans team – and it seems to have worked! She may single-handedly bring back nail art. Meanwhile, Katie Holmes – with husband Tom Cruise and his new co-star Cameron Diaz from “Knight and Day” – is always uncannily fashion forward. At a CAA pre-Superbowl party, she wore a flight style leather jacket and army green, the hot new – well, that really THAT new – for spring. Get ready for army jackets and khaki to make a giant comeback.

As we reported a few weeks ago the new show everyone is talking about “Styl’D,” premieres November 1st. You’ve probably seen the previews running on MTV this month and are no doubt as excited as we are. We saw MMA stylist Jen Rade’s ruthless judging on Project Runway this season and can’t wait to see her give these junior assistants a run for their money with her ‘show no mercy’ attitude. Catch a glimpse of this hilarious clip showing the junior assistant as he attempts to prove his talent to Jen Rade at a fitting with her client, Kim Kardashian.

Kim Kardashian Barbie

Every girl has a Barbie doll inside her. And lucky Heidi Klum is now a real one, thanks to Mattel. But Kim Kardashian gets to play one on a magazine cover. She blogged about her new cover of “Kurv” Magazine, on which she’s transformed by photographer Tony Duran into a living Barbie doll. Paris Hitlon, move over. On her blog, Kim writes, “I absolutely love this photoshoot I did for KURV Magazine! I worked with the most amazing photographer, Tony Duran! This could be my favorite shoot to date!” You can pick it up on the groovier newsstands. Now we know why she went blonde – she actually thinks like a blonde.

Unless you’re at Barneys or Maxfields in L.A., you don’t see that many stylish people when you’re shopping – particularly in this hideous late August heat. In this weather, you’re likely to see women emerging from chilly air-conditioned cars with ponytails, t-shirt dresses, flip flops and no makeup to run into somewhere to a new nailpolish color, and jump back in the car as quick as they can. Well, the Kardashian sisters know how to shop in style. They also know they’re often being photographed, so smart girls, when they shop – as they did yesterday, at Bel-Bambini on Robertson for baby gifts – they do their hair, put on makeup, wear the highest shoes they have – and wear trendy hip clothes. We love Kim’s black shorts and pouf sleeve blouse, and Kourtney is right on the money in an oversized grey t shirt and leggings and VERY high grey shoes. It’s all about the shoes, isn’t it? They can really make or break a look this fall. You gotta hand it to these two for making a big effort in this big big heat spell.

kim kardashian blonde

Breakups do funny things to people. Men hit the gym and or get on a plane or go out carousing. Women usually change their hair – the cut, the color, or both. Kim Kardashian has gone to the extreme – she’s gone blonde, and deputed the new honey-colored look at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night. Sure, she’d donned blonde wigs, but this time, it’s for real, and no doubt took many hours in the salon. “I went blonde!” she wrote on her blog. “My hairstylist Clyde Haygood orchestrated the whole thing and Rebecca from Goodform salon dyed it! She also asked her blog readers, “What do you think? I am really loving it!” No doubt, there will be some pro’s, some minuses, but all in all, our view is that she didn’t go the usual brunette-to-yellow-blonde WAY TOO FAR: she’s got some dark streaks in it, mixed in light brown pieces, and since her pro hair team (Clyde Haygood’s worked with Cameron Diaz, David Bowie, Eva Mendes, Gwen Stefani, W Magazine, Allure, Vanity Fair, French Vogue, Allure and done much more) knew what they were doing and matched her color to her tawny skintone, it actually works. Which shade do we like better? We’re not sure yet. This is a good summer look, but fall is right around the corner. Well, Kim seems to
care a bit less about actual fashion and trends, and more about the MALE OPINION – and we all know how men feel about hair color. Or is that an old concept? Kim’s new love life will determine that! Her very blonde friend Paris Hilton doesn’t seem to ever lack for male attention. – Merle Ginsberg
