More Emmy Party Shopping
Aug25
With the Emmy’s coming on Sunday, I must say, I still haven’t decided what great cocktail dress to wear to the HBO party at the Pacific Design Center. I’ve been scrolling through every store’s website and just haven’t located that “statement” dress. And – in thinking about it – wouldn’t it be great to have a dress that would work for a number of big fall events? Why not just buy one seriously great dress? So when I expanded my pricepoint, a lot more possibilities opened up. For instance, these gorgeous cocktail confections by Alberta Ferretti from her fall 2010 collection. Yes, the actresses will all be wearing resort, spring 2011 or couture – but the executives, show runners and journalists won’t! Each one of these dresses is a total showstopper, and worst the investment. The last is my favorite – that pale pale blue with ruching is divine. Of course, it’s also $2730.00 dollars at Neimanmarcus.com. Hmmmmm . . . well, I’d sure want to wear it again. I’d have to!!! – Merle Ginsberg

The big winners at the Emmy’s – the big fashion winners, at any case – were Versace, Marchesa and L’Wren Scott. Of course, Versace is a juggernaut, and complete veterans when it comes to dressing celebs on the red carpet. Marchesa has Harvey Weinstein behind them, as his wife is designer Georgian Chapman. But L’Wren Scott? An American based in Paris and London, it’s kind of fabulous that she managed to dress both Kyra Sedgwick and Christina Hendricks. Her clothes aren’t even in that many stores.
Here’s the Versace line up – Jane Krakowski in a fall 2009 gown, Blake Lively in a fall 2009 gown – and then there’s January Jones. Her gown cannot be found on the fall 2009 line up of the Versace show- nor the resort 2010 lineup. That means this dress is either from the upcoming spring 2010 show at the end of this week in Milan – or it’s couture and was made just for her!!!!!!! Either way, January has JUICE to get the hardest-to-get dress of the night!
