- Fashion Rules!

When the polizi dragged British comic Sacha Baran Cohen, aka Borat, off a runway in the middle of a Milan fashion show – Italian fashionistas, instead of angered that he’d curtailed a fashion show, screamed, “Borat! Bellisima!” But the Milanese cops dragged him off and arrested him anyway. In character as “Bruno,” an Austrian fashionista, the character as the center of his new mockumentary movie for summer 09, Baran Cohen was fairly recognizable: his hair is straight and streaked with blonde, and he was wearing over the top clothes – the only thing that gave him away and is that Baran Cohen, with a camera crew in Milan, had tried to get into the DSquared show, and was turned away.
Somehow, he managed to leap onto the runway during Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz De La Prada’s show in Milan and strutted around before security chased, captured and turned him over to police, reported Italy’s ANSA news agency. A lesson to those who want to break into fashion shows: become famous comics first.
The Cambridge University-educated star was detained at a police station for about half an hour, during which someone fetched his passport to vouch for him. Eventually, he released without charge.
What with fashion all over movies and tv lately – whether it’s reality shows or scripted shows like “Gossip Girls” – Baran Cohen’s movie could be the first real fashion comedy. – MERLE GINSBERG
