TV stars, be gone! (Just kidding, we’re not quite done with them yet.) The 67th Annual Venice Film Festival kicks off this week, with the Toronto Film Festival coming soon on its heels. This means lots of BIG major movie stars, great European clothes, and a zillion major movie premiers. Just wanted you to rest up in anticipation . . . Venice got started a little bit quietly with the magazine Uomo Vogue throwing a little dinner for director Quentin Tarantino, hosted by Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani. Jessica Alba showed up in a fabulous little grey frock with a cream chiffon tulle hem – so damn cute! (On her, anyway.) But we love the pic of her in denim just hours before on a water taxi in Venezia, on her way to hair and makeup for the evening. Meanwhile, Naomi Campbell showed up in hair extentions that appear to be going through electric shock therapy, and her daughter’s dress – oh, wait, she doesn’t have a daughter. Well, that dress is clearly meant for a 12 year old. Well, there are all kinds of ways of getting attention . . .

Christina Applegate plays second banana to Drew Barrymore in the upcoming rom com “Going the Distance” – and this week was the big press push, late night talk show appearances, premieres, etc, and both Drew and Christina were out and about everywhere pushing the project – and working some good looks at the same time. Christina is pregnant, so her clothing options weren’t as available – but she did very well, in very varied looks. The black and red dotted dress is by Valentino, and it’s quite flattering, because it’s fitted in the bodice, and flowy on the bottom. The blue, pink and white paisley print dress isn’t nearly as helpful to Christina – big colorful prints make the body expand in the mind’s eye – and the skirt of this dress bunches up in an unflattering way. The lavender fitted shift is the most flattering dress of all for a pregnant woman – it’s cut so well, she looks much curvier and chicer here than in either of the other looks. And the color is amazing on her.

Much has been blogged out today when it comes to the newly free/unleased Lindsay Lohan and her new post jai/rehab look. No one can figure out how she got such very bronze legs when she has not been in the sun or at a tanning salon. It’s really simple, people: self tanner! No doubt a concerned friend slipped her some for important post rehab media snaps. But even more telling: her accessories. Yes, she’s wearing a tight white bodysuit and a see-through skirt – nothing new here. BUT – check out her Hermes Birkin bag (in the neighborhood of five grand) and black Derek Lam suede double-platform lace-up sandals. It reminds of us of Paris Hilton wearing Chanel when it came to her courthouse appearances. Even blonde Hollywood bombshells can go “lady” occasonally – when they have to!

So far, the only celebrity to really embrace wearing Balmain – the edgiest and trendiest collection of all these days – is Beyonce, who has amazing fashion nerve. She makes it her own and it actually doesn’t overwhelm her. But we happened to catch this photo of Jessica Alba in a short metallic Balmain dress with serious shoulders – and cool booties. This is VERY trendy, more than Jessica usually is. But it actually looks good on her. Of course, the next time we see her, she’ll be looking demure and ladylike: that’s her. A fashion experimenter.

If there weren’t enough messages that fall is a bit more than a week away, we just learned that E! Entertainment will bring back “Fashion Police” with the one and only Joan Rivers, as a weekly show starting September 10th at 10:30pm. You can come home from Fashion’s Night Out and watch. Joining Joan on the couch every week will be E! personality Guiliana Rancic and celebrity stylist George Kotsiopoulos. George has dressed many a celeb, including Freida Pinto, Kerry Washington and so many others – so he’ll be bringing some serious fashion insider cred to the now-weekly show, which it has SO badly needed. FINALLY! Go George! Joan will make jokes, and you will make insightful fashion commentary. The fourth personage of this fiersesome foursome is Kelly Osbourne- and this girl knows her fashion, and does NOT hold back. She loves flamboyant, George loves chic – there will be no mincing words in this group. Now, you can get an early eyeful and earful: the August 30th version of E!’s Emmy Fashion Police will feature Joan, Guiliana, George and Kelly at 10pm, going over the Emmy red carpet like a fine tooth vacuum cleaner. We just hope someone looks bad enough to warrant some of the criticism they’re sure to receive. With great Hollywood stylists looking after most of the nominees and presenters, we have a feeling this year is going to be very high fashion, high drama, and very Hollywood by way of New York.

Giselle did it, Then Eva Longoria Parker. Now Christina Hendricks, the hourglass figured redhead who plays Joan Harris on “Mad Men” – and who is highly anticipated to wear something pretty amazing to the Emmy’s this weekend – is modelling for the London Fog fall ad campaign. Turns out, London Fog has been used on the hit AMC show – because the brand’s been around since the sixites. It makes mostly classic trenchcoats that never go out of style. It was shot by photographer Nino Muñoz in black-and-white – and features Hendricks in a chic leopard trenchcoat. We have a feeling they’re going to sell a lot of this wild animal style this fall.

Okay, here’s one thing Fashion’s Night Out (September 10) in Los Angeles will have over New York City’s big night: many of L.A.’s famed Gourmet Trucks will line Rodeo Drive! From 6pm to 10pm, Border Grill Truck, Coolhaus Ice Cream Sandwiches, The Gastro Bus, The Grilled Cheese Truck and SprinklesMobile will be there when partying in 72 stores makes you just a little peckish. And they come in amazing colors! Since Rodeo Drive’s getting a Ferris Wheel on the street, this “carnival” theme makes sense. We have to wonder if all these skinny fashionista types are going to eat the kind of carb loading that’s featured on these trucks! Here are some of the highlights to get them popping out of their skinny jeans:
Border Grill Truck:
Gourmet tacos, quesadillas, ceviches
Coolhaus Ice Cream Sandwiches:
Strategically located near the Rem Koolhaas-designed Prada store for FNO, offers unique and gourmet flavors hand-craftedusing the finest local, organic, and all-natural ingredients and delivered in a customizable edible wrapper.
Frysmith Truck:
Frysmith serves fries you eat with a fork! Hand-cut potatoes and sweet potatoes are topped with kimchi and Kurobuta pork belly, all-beef Angus chili or Jidori chicken.
The Grilled Cheese Truck:

SprinklesMobile:
A mobile cupcake truck that serves freshly baked cupcakes in their Sprinkles popular flavors.
Our advice, armed with this new information, is: wear looser clothes and book your trainer now for the next week!!
Kate Winslet’s been all over the internet today because the papparazzi caught up with her in London, where she was dining at the Groucho Club this weekend with 34 year old Brit model Louis Dowler (she’s the exact same age). The British papers started reported they were dating at the end of June, but it’s the first time the couple’s really gone for it out in public. No doubt they knew what they were in for, media wise. Kate’s wearing a very short tight black dress and looking thin and fabulous in Roger Vivier Spikey Sandals. A girl doesn’t go out in those shoes if she’s not looking for trouble. The reason Kate’s in such great shape? Well, she broke up with husband Sam Mendes 4 months ago – that always seems to generate an exercise regime. And she shot a Longines watch commercial in Rome, with wavy blowing hair and a tight black dress. This is a great look for her. The serious actress has been replaced by a blonde bombshell. She’s done shooting the HBO mini series “Mildred Pierce,” so she can just muck about London these last weeks of summer. Although she still lives in New York, and her kids go to school there. And could all of this been a move to annoy Sam Mendes? Well, a woman scorned . . .

We haven’t seen much of beautiful – and tres chic – Indian actress Freida Pinto (“Slumdog Millionaire”) in a year and a half, since the film cleaned up at the Oscars in 2009. But suddenly, she’s everywhere: on the cover of the New York Times T Style Magazine, for fall out this weekend (Aug 22), snapped at Heathrow Airport in a lovely black and blue ensemble – does anyone else travel this well dressed? – with Roger Vivier ballerina flats in blue – and in many many movies coming out. Two are fall “Oscar” worthy films: Woody Allen’s “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” and the other is Julian Schnabel’s “Miral,” about a Palestinian woman. Looks like we may well be seeing her at the Oscars again this year. She’s also in three other films after that.
