In a time of such a leather craze, I am pleased to report that our old historic Hollywood has given life to an alluring brand called Cerre. The luxury leather based collection is showcased in their own store and adjoining atelier where everything is hand made with the finest Italian hides and natural materials. Clayton and Flavie Webster are the husband and wife team behind Cerre, two former models who had met in Paris while working for designers like Olivier Theyskens. Established in 2005 Cerre had started with a collection of bags and small leather goods aiming to build a classic accessories brand. For Spring 2010 they had decided to branch out into clothing with a line of leather and linen pieces most of which are either black or ivory. These pieces in my opinion have a distinct quality, although the styles are simple there is an evident contrast between the dark draping feel of the leather in feminine shapes. Elegant and tough. One of my favorite pieces of the collection is the lambskin jacket with a slit back and removable back panel which they have hanging from the ceiling of their store. The Cerre store is still fairly new, it had opened in April of 2009 filled with a selection of vintage gowns and dresses, jewelry by designer Raised by the Wolves, and a slew of other rare records and collectables. I discovered a very unique Halston studded dress there last week with a kimono like sleeve. The store decor of recovered wood and metal best represents their esthetic and underlying theme of blending ancient with the new. For more info and address please check out their site www.cerre.com.
