Our New Perfume Obsession: Francis Kurkdjian’s Line, at Neiman Marcus

Oct19

Master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian was in L.A. from Paris several weeks ago, where he was feted by Libertine designer Johnson Hartig at his Larchmont Home. Kurkdjian did all the private label fragrances for Gaultier, has created fragrances for Dior and Narciso Rodriguez – he is what the Parisians and perfume conoisseurs call “A Nose.” Recently, he opened “Maison Kurdkjian” in Paris, with a full line of scents, incense papers, candles, and even – this rocks! – scented detergent and scented fabric softener (they are $45 a piece at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills.) Our absolutely favorite scent of his – out of several for men and for women – is the female “Pour Le Soir” – it smells like heavenly incense, and stays on the body for a long long time ($195 at Neiman Marcus). But Aqua Universalis (a beautiful water scent) and Pour Le Matin are also lovely, if a little less soignee. The incense papers are only $25 and the Pear Scented Bubble Bath is only $20 – so there are very reasonable items in the collection, and they’d make great gifts. But if you want to smell heavenly, Parisian, and like a fireplace that has musk and amber in it – go for Pour Le Soir. It is one of the few scents we’ve smelled that really really lasts on your skin – it almost smells like it’s inside your skin.
