The eye popping earnings power of Beyonce and her husband JayZ were released this week at $162 Million for 2008. The new couple nearly doubled their closest rivals Will Smith and Jada Pinkett and the Beckhams. We have been waiting a long time for a Beyonce fragrance; she has held out instead by endorsing Tommy Hilfiger and Armani’s fragrances and concentrating on her other ventures. However, the time and more importantly the right deal may now all be aligned for the top performer. We may be reading between the lines a little bit but her husband last week signed a mega deal with Parlux fragrances to market and distribute fragrances for his stable of talent including Rihanna and Kanye (apparently he controls the rights to these through his Iconic Fragrances LLC). What went unnoticed was the press release said Iconic Fragrances was in the final stages of obtaining the fragrance rights to a “well known female recording artist”. Beyonce, the top earning female celebrity, has yet to sign with one of the mega players, Estee Lauder, Coty, P and G, meaning she should be free and clear to sign up with her husbands company and create a series of Beyonce fragrances.
It would be a major coup for Parlux, and Beyonce has a proven audience, the only question is does JAYZ have the negotiating power to sign his wife up for the program. We are betting on it!
