MICHELLE OBAMA’S GOT A BRAND NEW BAG

Dec17

We can imagine that First Lady to be Michelle Obama will have a lot of handbag choices come January 20, 2009. However, now her face will be gracing its own handbag – by bag designer Debbie Brooks. It also has images of the White House on it. This means that those not going down to D.C. for the festivities can carry this bag around to show their excitement and support for the new First Couple. You can check it out on www.DebbieBrooks.com, and Debbie Brooks bags are sold at Henri Bendel in NY. Brooks’ bags have been carried by various celebs (what bags haven’t these days?), and it doesn’t hurt that she customs them with the celebrity’s photo on them. Will Mrs. Obama be carrying around the bag with her face gracing it? Somehow, we doubt it – but you can be sure she will get sent one. – Merle Ginsberg

Debbies artworks and handbags have also been featured on CNN, The Today Show, CBS, ABC, Extra, Inside Edition, E Style, People Magazine, Womens Wear Daily, Lucky, Vive, Ocean Drive, Cindy Adams, Daily News, and Hamptons Magazine plus many more. She has since created c ustom corporate collectable limited edition handbags for The Tony Awards, Elton John for CAESARS, The Four Seasons, the Oscars and the 2008 American Music Awards, and was most recently selected by the Olympic Committee to be the official female pop artist of the 2004 Summer and 2006 Winter Olympics. Her limited edition charitable collections have raised thousands and include The Avon Foundation, UCP, MDA, Make-A-Wish, Dress for Success and others.

The Michelle Obama bag and all of the Debbie Brooks Collection can be seen in its entirety this holiday season at Grand Central Stations Holiday Fair. Other Debbie Brooks collectable items include wallets, card holders, key chains, money clips and for both women and men.

Debbies handbags  were recently selected and are available through the very prestigious Independent Jewelers Organization. Starting in 1972, the IJO has become the largest buying group in the world. Collectively the IJO stores throughout the US have donated hundreds of thousands to local charities and they are individually owned by locals and support the local jewelers. Great holiday values can be found at their stores.  From its modest beginnings with 52 members, the company has grown to over 850 members worldwide. For the first time in their history, IJO has accepted a product to distribute outside of the jewelry realm. I love Debbies handbags, says Mary Moses of the IJO. Of all the lines that IJO has ever endorsed, I dont think any booth has been as busy every minute as Debbie was at her first IJO show.  The jewelers just loved the product and could not get enough of it. My next bag will be from Debbies Couture Collection  one of Debbies bags set with genuine gemstones  it covers both of my passions!

Debbie Brooks evokes the emotions of excitement and adventure of everyday indulgences and transforms them beautifully into collectable works of art. Her colorful, whimsical scenes remind us of a place we often wish we could be, uniquely captured in a way that only her personal style and sense of humor can do. Setting the trend, she has translated her internationally collected gallery Pop artworks into a sophisticated and sassy evening and handbag collection with quite a celebrity following.

The first product Debbie ever created was a handbag for her own use.  It was so well received a woman actually chased her through an airport yelling I have to have one!  Debbie launched her line in November of 2002 at New York’s 5th Avenue Henri Bendel. Debbie Brooks works can be found in art galleries, jewelry stores and high end boutiques around the country.
