Saturday night of this past weekend was a big coming out party for Angelina Jolie and her fans – she has been living in France and more recently, Germany, where Brad Pitt is shooting a movie with Quentin Tarantino. And she gave birth to twins this summer. So the anticipation of seeing her at the premier of Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling,” which opens on October 24, ran pretty high – both for fans and for internet surfers. Angelina’s look does not change a great deal – she tends to go with black, white or grey – and she tends to wear shapes that are close to the body.
So it was not a huge surprise that she chose a strapless black cashmere cocktail dress by Versace, that fit her like a cashmere glove – pushing her wavy hair to one side, and eschewing a necklace in favor of showing off the contrast between her beautiful skin the the stiffness of the dress.
Her shoes were winter Sergio Rossi peep toe pumps, with gold contrasting heels – very chic. They’re actually in the store right now, for those who wish to emulate.
BUT that dress is not in any store or any collection – Angelina’s stylist Jen Rade collaborated with the Versace people in Milan to have the dress made according to AJ’s specifications. That explains why it fits so well! But – it’s the VERY rare occasion that a movie star gets to have a couture dress made for THEM for simply a movie premier – its an honor usually reserved for the Academy Awards. Then again, if Angelina gets nominated, wonder who she’ll feel like wearing? So while it might have taken the house of Versace many hours to make that one-off dress – chances are, the publicity will be worth it to them.
